PEA / CannAmide™ Mechanism

CannAmide™ (also referred to as TheraPEA) is based on palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), an endocannabinoid-like lipid messenger and endogenous neuromodulator with a broad spectrum of pharmacological properties. PEA is found naturally in the body, as well as in egg yolk, beans, soy and other sources.

CannAmide™ is a special formulation designed to increase PEA solubility and absorption. Most PEA products on the market contain only PEA raw material and, as such, have very poor bioavailability. The CannAmide™ formulation contains components known to improve drug permeation and the release of the API from the tablet. Manufacturing processes of both the API and the final dosage form meet GMP requirements.

CannAmide™ has a product licence from Health Canada’s Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate (NNHPD). The Company may seek to advance CannAmide registration in Europe and Israel. Good safety and tolerability have been determined by Health Canada and observed in the Company’s clinical trials in Tourette syndrome and obstructive sleep apnea.
